Mistaken Goal Chart
The primary goal of all children is to belong and to feel significant. When children don't feel they belong, equivacally (and unsciously) they behave in a effort to regain their sense of belonging in the family or in the group. This is what we call misbehavior. There are four goals chidlren aim to:
- Undue Attention
- Misguided Power
- Revenge
- Assumed Inadequacy
Recognizing that a misbehaved child is a discouraged child is the first step to understanding the root-problem of the misbehavior. This moment the child needs encoragement.
